Nikon F3 : A legend you can own
And we are back! ladies and gentlemen, i am finally able to update pics and this time its time to do some catching up. Man it feels good!
First up on a series of new articles. The legendary Nikon F3, back then this was THE D3 of the camera world. In one of the adverts by Nikon, they lined up a whole bunch of photojournalist, all were using the F3. This is one of the last fully manual professional SLRs in the market. First debuted in 1983, it has been the longest Nikon in production. Able to withstand wars, natural disasters and pure human errors. This camera was built to last. I had the chance to check this camera out as a dear friend of mine wanted to get his first film SLR at a 2nd hand camera store in London.
So whats good about it?
- Well, it only uses 1 battery (small watch like lithium batteries) that lasts a year.
- It wont break down under extreme temperatures. Hence fully mechanical.
- Less buttons to wrap your head around. Simple. Straightforward. Lets you focus more on TAKING the picture.
- CHEAP. Its a professional camera. The D3 of its age. Now only 150 pound with 50mm lens. 150? cheap? Well considering the built quality and its performance, 150 is trully a great bargain for a piece of Nikon Professional Gear.
- Interchangeable view finder. Yup you can change the viewfinder into a waist finder, action finder and what not.
- Bloody well built.
Why film? Ive already got a DSLR
You can’t really compare a pro film camera with a pro digital camera. Both are totally in a different league of its own. Its like comparing a diesel and a petrol car. I’m definitely bidding on ebay for a good deal on this baby. Get your own piece of history. Get a F3.

I am lusting for F3 too. But, I cannot justify the purchase of this camera, since I already own a Nikon FE. ;o)
