Tips to take photos on a day like Eid (Hari Raya) or any special day for that matter.

Equipment wise:

• Wide angled shots for those group photos, and telephoto lens for nice portraits of that special one. For portraits, opening the aperture wide ex: f1.8 f2.8, to allow the background to sufficiently blur to bring out the main subject.
• Flash photography is optional, speedlites may be a good idea for some fill flash during the day, as you tend to get those unwanted shadows under the eyes. So fill flash can be used to bring out those otherwise lost detail from the face. Pop up flash are also suitable for fill flash, believe me that pop up flash has some good uses, ESPECIALLY for daylight fill flash.
• Bring extra batteries if available, dont forget to check that the batteries are in the Camera! Sounds silly, but it does happen.
• For you amateurs out there, reflectors are some what acceptable provided they dont bother anyone. Reflectors are large round silver sheet to reflect light back to the main subject.

Othe general tips on a special day:

• Put on your best dress, your best shirt, be proud of that day, be proud of yourself  ; )
• Remember to be happy and smile (where needed)
• Press that shutter
• GO enjoy yourselves and feast on the tasty morsels on that fine day.
