Things that hold back a photographer
Sat, Oct 10, 2009
“I am a lazy photographer.” That is a honest confession. It is not that I don’t like to take pictures, it is just that it comes and go. But you know it is there. So, what’s the thing that holding me up?
I have been using the same kit since the past two years. Same kit and nothing being improved. I’ve bought a filter. I sold it. I nearly sold all my equipments twice, but when I do so. It produces such a nice picture, at least for me.
It is not often that I envy people that have decent equipments than me. But hey, I run this website right, so should I have the most expensive camera or at least an L lens. F that mentality!
Money
Might related to above points. Not having money is one of the reason of not buying decent equipments. But if I care enough about this passion, I should have some saving for it. Right? But I don’t save any. The fact is when you look at magazines and browsing to online camera shops, you just wish the price tags spell FREE.
Am I willing to spend? No. Why? I don’t know.
Style
Everyone is unique. That is one of the common sayings. In some way, you are admired with certain style of photography. Some people love to take Lego models, some are HDR freak and so on. But you are yet to find your own style. Will ever find it? I don’t see mine but I hope you do.
Style – Is it a must have for every photographer or is it just a joke? But can I just copy other people style? But what, who invent that style anyway? Will people trace down the first person to shoot that particular style and trademark himself with it. Absolutely no!
Passion
Probably the strongest of all – I have the passion in design. It is quite hard to say you love a girl while at the same time, you are dating another girl. But I wonder, what does it takes for you to be counted as passionate about something?
LENSA
Once upon a time, I sat down with Shamin and we talk what we are going to do with it. Let me ask you, what is it for? Some random website that talk about photography like we know it? Shamin, I’d say he knows lots of stuff. Me? Bullshit! I haven’t tried to shoot RAW. Ever in my life! At least at this moment.
We are two random guys that would like to share what we know and what we thought could be useful for you. Quite useful for starters and beginners maybe. We know the fact that we don’t actually post quality stuff just like the photography magazines. But hell yeah, it is just the same thing if we copy and paste it here.

Within less than a month, LENSA will celebrate its first birthday. And I personally touched by how far we’ve got. We’ve been through some shit moment, posting our Eid podcast, covering several events and wondering day and night how we could improve our site so that we are not holding you down.
Some of you have much more advanced equipments than we do, even captures the greatest moment that we wish for. For this, I congratulate all of you. A year seems to change you guys a lot. We could clearly see it from our flickr group pool. Keep up the good work!
Me? I’ll guess I am just a normal photographer person that takes a random shot which I think nice and capture it for my own collection. Far being commented or critique. Because each pictures, can tell a lot of stories and that is why I keep it. I believe, I just found the meaning of “capturing moment” because just when you press the shutter or button, only you and what is around you know the exact feeling, emotion, atmosphere and the truth of that moment.
